You can’t walk three feet in Kyoto without stumbling across a postcard-worthy shrine, temple, or garden. Finding third-wave coffee, on the other hand, takes more effort. Clamp Coffee Sarasa, located on a leafy side street about 10 minutes from the JR Nijo station, fits the bill with its single-origin beans, piles of hip magazines (Popeye, Brutus, Japanese editions of Kinfolk), and rustic Americana decor. There’s no better place to wait out a storm in typhoon season or hide from humanity the rest of the year.
