If you have time to hit just one watering hole in Bangkok’s underground craft beer scene, make it Dok Kaew House Bar. Set up on the ground floor of a rambling house located on a quiet residential street near the Sirat Expressway (not far from such Ari hotspots as Future Factory, Laliart Coffee, and SummerStreet), this low-key bar keeps local breweries like Devanom, Pheebok, and What the Pug flowing in heavy rotation.
Rumor is the house is haunted, but that hasn’t stopped the convivial, mostly Thai crowd from gathering nightly and making good with the spirits. Of special note are the hard-to-find nano brews from Nectar, which cram heaps of Thai mango, flower tea, honey, and coffee into its robust, small-batch recipes. Hop heads should also consider picking up a reusable Beer Wanderlust pint glass, as it earns you 20 baht (58 cents) off drafts every Wednesday night.
