Between its many regional breweries and the bottomless kegs of unpasteurized bia hoi that Hanoians drink in droves, it’s clear Vietnam LOVES its beer. And not just local varieties—there’s also a surprising number of European-style brewpubs, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City. Hoa Viên Brauhaus is credited with sparking the trend in 2001, when it started making its own bia vang (golden lager) and bia den (darker, more bitter beer) to complement its menu of Eastern-European grub. These days, the place is packed with chummy locals and hops-starved travelers. Mot, hai, ba, yo!
