Fact: There is no prettier place in Jaipur to throw back a cocktail or cappuccino than Bar Palladio at the Narain Niwas Palace Hotel. The interior’s blue-and-white motif is simply stunning: hand-painted murals of native floral and fauna dress the walls, candles flicker on every table, tented pavilions invite guests to sprawl opium den-style across pillow-laden daybeds, and peacocks wander manicured grounds dotted with orange blossoms and mango trees. It’s a dreamer’s vision inspired by Caffé Florian and Harry’s Bar in Venice and executed by Dutch designer and TOCCA founder Marie-Anne Oudejans. Not surprisingly, the space has been featured in photo shoots for Vogue, Architectural Digest, New York Magazine, and Condé Nast Traveler.
Italian aperitivos are the thing to order here: negronis, martinis (shaken, never stirred), Venetian spritzes, and the like. If you’re hankering for food, take a seat in the adjoining Caffé Palladio, a sunny saffron-and-pink salon with vaulted ceiling and glossy marble floors. Should you fall in love with either space’s florid Euro-Mughal aesthetic, ask your server about purchasing your own set of embroidered textiles. Placemat-and-napkin sets cost $74 USD; tablecloth-and-napkin sets $170, and sturdy totes $40 to $50.
