Nearly two decades before Truett Cathy founded Chick-fil-A, he was running a little restaurant in Hapeville, GA, called Dwarf Grill. Now named the Chick-fil-A Dwarf House, it’s still going strong 70 years later. Enter through the diminutive front door and you’ll be met with a scene out of an old-fashioned diner. Takeout is available, but you’ll want to dine in for a classed-up Chick-fil-A experience: friendly-ish table service, hot-baked biscuits, and pies prepared daily by MVP baker Jackie Banks. (She trained under Truett himself.) Our dream order: a spicy fried chicken sandwich with waffle-cut fries, field peas, a gallon of sweet tea, and a slice of luscious lemon meringue pie for dessert. Dwarf House is open every day except Sunday (because Jesus), but Ms. Jackie only makes 11 lemon pies a day. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
