One thing’s for sure—you’ll never go hungry in Kuala Lumpur. One of our favorite spots for a lunchtime feast is Fierce Curry House in Bangsar. The casual North Indian-style eatery specializes in Hyderabadi dum biryani (your choice of chicken or mutton) and banana-leaf thali sets. To mix things up, give the so-called Bir-nana a roll: It’s a made-up plate that combines the thali with the biryani. A starter of pappadum and spicy mint chutney is complimentary, the lime sodas are refreshing, and the service is friendly enough and efficient. Fierce Curry House is also open for dinner, serving crowdpleasers like butter chicken, lamb kebabs, palak paneer, and tandoori Hariyali prawns. (Note to you coffee fiends: If you’re in a nitro mood, the excellent Bean Reserve Coffee Roasters is just a four-minute walk from the restaurant.)
