Don’t expect any gimmicky #unicorn scoops or cutesy cotton candy halos at the tiny Guss Damn Good storefront in Sathorn. Co-founders Rarin Tumwattana and Natee Charussuriyong value quality over kitsch and they’re serious about cranking out the best damn ice cream in Bangkok. The farm-fresh milk flavor is even named Don’t Give Up #18 because it took that many tries to nail its light mouthfeel and creamy texture. Tumwattana and Charussuriyong met at Babson College in Boston and were inspired to replicate New England’s unique but rarely discussed signature ice cream, which falls somewhere between Italian gelato and the hard-packed American classics. Other flavors include Bonfire (burnt caramel), Virgin Umeshu (Japanese plum), Naughty Honey (longan honey), and Why Can’t Coffee Be White (Ipoh-style white coffee). Grab a cup after catching a matinee show at indie cinema The Bangkok Screening Room, located two floors up in the Woof Pack creative complex.
