Madcap chef Alton Brown says Paula Huber’s glazed sour cream donuts are so good, they make him weep. The owner of Paula’s Donuts in Buffalo and grand dame of the Western New York donut scene recently expanded her 20-year-old, family-run business into West Seneca, having gained a religious following at her shops in Tonawanda and Williamsville. All three storefronts sell 30-plus varieties of donut, including glazed, jelly, Bavarian, Angel Cream, and fastnachts (available through Easter Sunday). Mix-and-match a dozen to go or buy one gargantuan Texas Donut, designed to feed 6 to 8 people. It’s customizable: You choose the filling, topping, and finishing touches like rainbow sprinkles or dollops of angel cream.
