Lavender ice cream: Don’t knock it till you try it—at least the version at Port Arthur Lavender in southeastern Tasmania. The family-run farm sits amid rolling green fields, just off the Tasman Highway near the old penal colony. The scoops here are sweet and delicate with a surprising amount of stretch. You’ll also find purple-hued nougat, fudge, bath soaps, scented stationery, and granny teapots in the cafe/gift shop, but don’t get distracted. You’re here for the ice cream and ice cream alone.
