The high tea buffet at the Regent Singapore Hotel’s Tea Lounge is a decadent affair, involving fancy interpretations of local treats like layered, rainbow-bright lapis sagu made with coconut milk, tapioca flour, and copious food coloring. Also up for grabs: prawn congee, laksa, chicken floss buns, tom yam focaccia, Hainanese chicken rice, deep-fried mantou with chili crab dip, gula melaka créme brulee, icy cheng teng, and delicate kaya macarons, made with eggy coconut jam.
The high tea buffet is served on weekends only. The cost is $61 SGD ($45 USD) for adults and $101 SGD ($75 USD) with all-you-can-drink prosecco. On weekdays, the Tea Lounge does a three-tier afternoon tea with traditional scones, finger sandwiches, and macarons. The cost is $48 SGD ($35 USD) for adults and $88 SGD ($65 USD) with free-flowing prosecco. Reservations recommended.
