Tiger Deaux-nuts started as a pop-up shop in 2012, with owner Jeff Herman introducing wild ‘n’ crazy new doughnut flavors like vanilla-jalapeño and chocolate-caramel-cheesecake to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Now that he’s set up a brick-and-mortar spot on Government Street, Herman has waded into the world of breakfast sandwiches. The thing to get is the fried egg with melted cheddar cheese and a boudin sausage patty stacked neatly between a split unglazed donut. The result is deeply savory with a hint of lingering sweetness—like an artisanal McGriddle, if you will.
