Don’t be intimidated by the “members only” sign posted on the door of Warung Malang in Causeway Bay. The family that runs the Indonesian halal restaurant warmly welcomes new members to its not-so-exclusive club; joining is free and you get a keepsake club card to boot. Our spectacular—and spectacularly inexpensive—lunch order included traditional chicken satay with sticky rice, fried stuffed bean curd, vermicelli with tofu and peanut sauce, and creamy, coconutty iced drinks swirled with sweet neon green palm syrup. All highly, emphatically recommended, as is grabbing a bag of prawn crackers on the way out.
