You don’t have to be a guest of the Luang Prabang View Hotel to take advantage of its enormous infinity pool. The oval-shaped, blue-tiled beauty is just a 10-minute tuk-tuk ride from Old Town; on a clear day, the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains will steal your breath away. Day passes cost $10 USD per person and include access to the pool, terrace bar, and hotel changing rooms. (For those interested in staying the night, rooms start around $100.) The pool is open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and tropical drinks are 50 percent off during the twice-a-day happy hour (11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.). The WiFi is fast and free, and there are more than enough loungers and sun beds to accommodate you and the, ohhh, seven other people who’ve figured out such an awesome place exists. On a slow day, which are most days, masseuses from the hotel spa wander the pool area offering complimentary foot and shoulder rubs. The whole scene is something of an expat secret—hence the monthly and annual membership fees starting at $60. Not surprisingly, the sunsets up here are pretty righteous. When you’ve had your eyeful, simply change, pay your bill (credit cards accepted), and hop on the free hotel shuttle back to town. It drops guests off at the Kitsalat Road roundabout, right at the foot of the night market.
