Next time you’re planning a trip to Buffalo, New York, or Niagara Falls, fold in a detour to Ontario Avenue on the U.S. side of the border. This is where Jamaican-Canadian Isaiah Henry Robertson, a.k.a. Prophet Isaiah, has built his extraordinary Second Coming House—a painstakingly hand-carved, hand-painted folk art dream that has to be seen to be believed. As you can probably guess, Prophet Isaiah is a religious man. He was working in real estate, buying and flipping houses, when he says God instructed him to build a home so colorful and eye-catching, it would stop traffic.
The point? To give nonbelievers a final chance to repent and convert before the impending apocalypse (which, btw, he predicts will turn Niagara Falls into a sinner-gobbling Lake of Fire). You can hear all about it in person if you stop and ring the Prophet’s doorbell. He doesn’t mind folks taking pictures of his house and is happy to talk at length about Jesus, his Lord and Savior. Whatever your take on fire-and-brimstone religion, the Prophet’s vision is a sight to behold.
