Las Cruxes in Austin, TX, is everything we love in a concept shop: vinyl, pottery, jewelry, perfume, paintings, and beautifully designed clothing, all hand-picked by someone with impeccable taste. (In this case, shopkeeper Veronica Ortuño.) That Las Cruxes shares bungalow space with truck-turned-coffeeshop Sister is just icing on the cake, making it seamless for shoppers to move from Japanese Eatable of Many Orders handbags to locally thrown vases by Mother of God Ceramics. The merchandise’s gallery-like presentation makes every object feel like a work of art—and whoa nelly, will your senses be blown when you get a whiff of the fragrance lineup from L.A.’s Mondo Mondo. The apropos ‘Cowboy’ scent has notes of honeysuckle, grass, earth, tobacco, leather, coffee, cypress, and Texan cedarwood. Smellgoods aside, we appreciate the sense of community Las Cruxes & Co. are building here in East Austin, hosting everything from gallery nights to book clubs to mixtape exchanges.
