Magpie Antiques in Ridgway, Colorado, doesn’t have much of a web presence. Nor regular store hours. But if you get lucky and owner Kate happens to unlock the door the day you’re beating around, you’re in for a treat. Her selection of braided bolo ties, vintage cowboy boots, hand-tooled leather purses, colorful Pendleton blankets, turquoise jewelry, and other Western paraphernalia are priced as if nobody on earth would ever want them. There is a lot to absorb here—boxes of old family photos, trays of skeleton keys, and shelves of tattered first-edition books among them—so take your time, look up and down and all around, and don’t leave until you’ve cleaned the joint out.
