You won’t find any books for sale on The Monkey’s Paw website—just a Tumblr-like scroll of bizarre titles unearthed by shop owner Stephen Fowler. This “remote window display,” as he calls it, is a cruel teaser if you’re not in the Toronto area; the only way to purchase these antiquated gems is in person. The topics addressed by his unusual collection of printed matter run the gamut: vampires, girl gangs, bread sculptures, wilderness cooking, ancient Peruvian sex, baton twirling, the science of urine, pet insects, and the bubonic plague, to name but a few. Prices are extremely fair (particularly if you’re enjoying the low CAN-to-USD conversion rate), but if you’ve got only a Toonie to spare, pop it into Fowler’s Biblio-Mat vending machine pictured below. Designed by animator Craig Small, it dispenses a guaranteed “old & unusual surprise” that’ll no doubt be in line with the rest of Fowler’s eclectic stock.
