Dundas West is one of the cooler shopping stretches in Toronto. That’s where you’ll find Penny Arcade and its restrained jungle of plants in terra-cotta pots and macramé hangers, Coachella-ready cowboy hats, long braids of sweet grass, cedar-scented Juniper Ridge incense, luxurious Donna Pescow-as-Annette fur coats, porcelain ceramics by Mola-Mola, neo-goth underthings by Bully Boy Lingerie, and chocolates made by the shopkeeper’s mother. Owner Rachel Sheehan has quite the eye for vintage pieces; an in-house seamstress helps keep her inventory fresh. Just don’t get too attached to the taxidermied cobra—he’s not for sale.
