A night at the Roxbury Motel in the Catskills has nothing to do with the Saturday Night Live sketch or anything remotely clubby. Opened in 2004 by Greg Henderson and Joseph Massa, the Roxbury is an eccentric theme motel whose fantastical rooms riff on pop culture shows and movies. Studios start at $90 per night and “king” rooms at $178. Options include the all-green Emerald City suite from The Wizard of Oz; a disco-madness Saturday Night Fever suite; and a Mary Ann Summers coconut cream pie dream room from Gilligan’s Island. Big spenders may opt for the Indiana Jones-themed standalone cottage (from $495), while groups of friends could go in on one of eight multiple-room suites (starting at $185); the I Dream of Jeannie and Jetsons pads were both filmed for a TLC segment on the world’s most insane bathrooms.
