Café De Laos isn’t the best European breakfast option in Luang Prabang, Laos—Le Banneton, a French bakery located a few blocks away, nails that need on the head. But it is damn serious about the devil’s cup. Coffee here is prepared table-side on a siphon setup that looks like it was lifted from Bill Nye’s. Like a Japanese kissaten, the potent brews are served in elegant floral china. The cafe itself is located on the ground floor of The Chang Inn, a Burasari hotel, and it’s a great place to get some work or reading done: never too busy, decent WiFi, and flush with comfortable seating in both the open-air lounge and chill backyard.
