While we can’t vouch for the Viennese pizza at Pizzeria Michelangelo in Cebu City—it’s made with “frankfurter sauce,” for heaven’s sake—the Philippines eatery does a noble enough job with its other pies. The Robertino, pictured here, buries house-made tomato sauce, mozzarella, farmer’s ham, bacon, egg, and Parmesan under a peppery handful of arugula. The crust isn’t charred to our liking, but this ain’t Italy/New York either. The restaurant is laid-back and family-friendly; for a scenier joint, check out sister restaurant, Hola España, which hosts DJs on Saturdays, spinning everything from disco to The Smiths.
