More coffee shops should set up inside plant stores—and vice versa. That’s our takeaway, anyway, after spending a little time at Okay Yeah Co. and Plant Shoppe in Oklahoma City. The two companies share a roomy garage in OKC’s Film Row neighborhood. String lighting, repurposed wood, Native American textiles, and a shiny Airstream parked inside the dual-purpose space help the businesses form a united front. Lush greenery decorates almost every surface, inviting cafe customers to wonder aloud, “What if I didn’t kill every plant I ever touched?”
They can ponder this question over a cortado made with Mariposa coffee or a strawberry-cactus-pear hand tart baked in-house by Güdbytes owner Elizabeth Davis-Macias. There are plenty of tables to spread out with a laptop or a group of friends you haven’t seen all week, and the WiFi is fast. Pop-up shops are a regular thing here, too. Follow @plantshoppe to learn about upcoming stores-within-stores; past ones featured soy candles from OKcollective and ceramics by Sage Eden.
