The only thing better than the pour-over at Methodical Coffee in Greenville, SC, are the pretty ceramic cups they serve it in. The shop was opened by a trio of guys with varied backgrounds: David Baker ran a hostel in Prague; Marco Suarez works in product design at Etsy; and the cheerful, top-knotted brewing wunderkind Will Shurtz ran mobile brew bar Vagabond Barista fresh out of high school. The café itself checks every of-the-moment design box, from the sleek marble countertops and white honeycomb tile to the barista aprons sewn by local denim hero Billiam. A rotating roster of roasters (say that three times fast!) and quirky seasonal drinks like The Madame Alfred (cold brew shaken with creamer, Earl Grey simple syrup, and orange oil) keep the menu interesting.
