Rumors Coffee in the French Concession is one of the only pour-over bars in Shanghai. It was opened five years ago by a Japanese coffee obsessive, but blink and you’ll miss it; the place is tiny! Inside you’ll find a cozy sitting area, four-stool bar, and a wall filled with vintage knick-knacks and jars of house-roasted beans from Indonesia, Malawi, Guatemala, and beyond. The staff is insanely sweet, despite every third customer asking for Frappuccinos, espresso, lattes with bear faces drawn in the foam, and so on. (Sorry, folks, this cafe is strictly drip.)
