Murni’s Warung started as a roadside stall in 1974, but quickly blossomed into one of Ubud’s first major sit-down restaurants. (David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Richard Gere, and, um, Jean-Claude Van Damme have all dined here.) Now spread over four floors—including a top level with vertigo-inducing views of the Wos River gorge—it’s part of a local empire that includes a spa, six Balinese guest houses, and a shop specializing in Asian antiques and tribal art. The menu is a mix of basic-bitch Western dishes and Indonesian favorites like the fish satay, pictured above. We recommend it for an easy lunch before checking out the totally bonkers Don Antonio Blanco Renaissance Museum, just up the road.
