Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Center founder Yang Pei Ming started collecting Chinese propaganda in 1995. These days, he has more than 6,000 posters dating from 1940 to 1990, including countless woodcuts. A side room is devoted to 1920s and ’30s Shanghai lady calendars and there are more than a few Chairman Maos hanging around. If you like what you see, take the gift shop seriously—there are tons of original posters, prints, books, medals, figurines, and other ephemera for sale, and Mr. Yang has a story for each.
