All Buttons Great and Small has been kicking around Sydney’s hip Newtown neighborhood long before anyone considered it hip. The 26-year-old shop is all about the buttons—13,000 of them, in fact, in myriad colors and materials, including leather, metal, wood, enamel, shell, coconut, bamboo, horn, bone, glass, ceramic, sparkly Swarovski, polymer, and polyester. Some are mass-produced in factories, others hand-carved in wee European workshops. The selection boggles the mind and is a must-browse for sewers, crafters, and other D.I.Y.ers of the Etsy generation.
